Blue Feather Ostrich Farms, LLC created TryOstrich.com as a retail store to bring quality Ostrich and Emu products directly from our Ranch and our family of associated Ostrich farms to the consumer at the lowest price. As a customer you'll always be dealing directly with one of our own or associated producer’s stores. Every product is approved by us or it doesn’t get to you. We also operate a Corporate marketing department for our Super Market and Restaurant customers.
The Indian Point Ostrich Ranch of Tehachapi, California is owned by Blue Feather Ostrich Farms, LLC and was founded in March, 1992 on the former site of the Sprinkle Brothers Cattle Company. Many of the original buildings and structures that supported the cattle operation from the 1940’s through the 1970’s remain in use today. The Ranch is our main facility.
It's interesting to note, that since ostrich produce red meat and leather similar to beef, the ranch still continues to produce red meat and leather, but from a different species. Ostrich steaks and burgers are processed at an approved plant under USDA inspection and are packed and sold under Indian Point’s own “Blue Feather” brand. Edible eggs are gathered, cleaned and stored under the highest standards and are sold under the Indian Point Brand. The leather is sold through brokers to the hide market.
Shortly after the ranch’s founding, a selective breeding program was initiated to produce breeding stock that was friendly, and manageable. A gift store was added when the ranch opened to the public for tours in 1997 and the internet store followed two years later. |

The TryOstrich umbrella includes producers and growers that meet our highest quality control standards and are at locations our trailers visit regularly. The complete product cycle is supervised and includes only domestic animals grown in the Western United States under humane conditions while receiving proper nutrition. Since we don't supply imported or brokered products, we are limited to our own production cabability and occasionally experience shortages. We are proud of the many long term customer relationships we have established and will always work hard to stay a step ahead.
